More than a dozen parents and residents held up sheets across part of Swampscott’s Linscott Park on Thursday to shield students leaving the Hadley Elementary School from witnessing a Trump rally in front of the town’s American Civil War Monument.
“We love our kids and we want to do the best we can to keep them safe and protected,” said Keiko Zoll, a Swampscott mom who organized the effort. “Unfortunately, we’ve gotten into a situation in our country where parents need to come out with sheets to protect our children from hateful language.”
